Does anyone esle feel like people are afraid of or compulsively avoiding serious relationships?

I'm married, but our friends have a real hard time with the institution of marriage, I know the divorce rate is sky high, but what in your opinion is the reason? I know, thats a huge open question

I avoid serious relationships. I am happy with myself and see no need for a long-term partner. I have friends and family to support me, I don't need someone living with me for that. Maybe when i get older, it will change, but I doubt it.
