What if they got together and decided that what they've been doing for the last couple thousand years to each other and others is wrong and decided to have peace on earth the next day? Then what if the Buddhist decided that it was there chance to shine and pummeled everyone into the stone age? Would you be shocked?

Does this mean Richard Gere will be our leader now? Sounds like something that would happen on an episode of The Simpsons

Uh, yeah, I would be shocked...I'm a Buddhist and I wouldn't want to pummel everyone else into the stone age!

However, it would be amazing if the religions could come to an agreement to disagree, and stop the needless fighting and killing. However, the biggest religious issues right now are between different sects of each religion...in Islam, there's the Sunnis vs. the Shiites, in Christianity it's the Catholics against the Protestants, etc. Unless every sect of each religion also commits to this change, violence will still ensue.

Firstly, I really don't see a future in which major religions come together and go "Oops, sorry mate. Forget the Holy Wars and what not and lets just have a nice game of cards?" as firstly not everyone would accept this and secondly their belifes are so strong they would never be able to accept this. The problems have been ariseing out of a difference in belifes, so unless these all suddenly change the problems will still be prominant.

I don't really see why a Buddhist would do that as it against their basic principals. However, there are so many examples of religious warfare in which it is supposedly against their belifes. Anyway yeah, I would be shocked as Buddhists are presented as peace loving and have never once embraced anything along the lines of war.

Since the Christians, Muslims and Jews have been slaughtering each other for centuries and the Buddhists believe that violence is wasteful and only turns back upon the violent... yeah. I won't say it's impossible, but on a probability scale of 1 to 10, it's at -9.

Have you noticed that fanatics of all religious shades tend to know very little other than their own beliefs. Christians, Jews, and Muslims have sat down together, but you heard very little about those events. Many Christians and Muslims can not get along with other Christians and Muslims, and yes, I admit there are some Jewish groups that I do not totally agree with.

No. Religion (any religion) has always been and will always remain a tool of oppression and a source of conflict. Most world religion promote love, it theory, but have in practice been guilty of horrible crimes (inquisition, the Crusades, terrorism, the list goes on). So it would not be surprising if a religion -- yet again -- cause death, destruction and suffering.

I would be shocked if everyone even sat down in the same room sadly. I don't understand why people cannot accept each others differences.

Your speaking of individuals as if we had a group mind. We don't. Of course what we do to others is wrong, but our ego won't let us admit that killing for love is not fun so we allow it to go on? As if.

People in theory can do lots of things but in reality it's not going to happen because of self righteousness and being under influence from Satan
