I design and charge per page. I did one once that was supposed to be a minimal site and had to do over 300 links. The initial quote was 495.00- I took a beating on it however I learned my lesson. Look at exactly what they want down to the smallest detail, consider links, pics, graphics, etc. Then make a quote.

Coming from another web designer. I would break it down 2 ways... by the websites complexity and how many hours you estimate it taking.
First decide how much you want to make an hour.
I would break it down further by say $15/hr for basic Html, $25/hr for more complex programing like xml, asp, php, etc. , and another for graphic design and flash.
But you prices would have to reflect how skilled you are. Just my opinion i could be wrong..

If they are too cheap I stay away.
I usually look at about £100/£200 per day and set a maximum number of days for the job

Offer all inclusive package. Domain, E-mail and the site. Even a crash-course if they want. You will make a bundle.

Depends what you want – simple is cheap.
I charge by the hour for graphics and programming.
(no plug – can’t even email me =P )
