why do people make fun of emo?

And why do people always think we cut ourselfs, some dont! And why does it seem like preps pick on them more than any other group? well at least they do at my school, anyway

Hey.... you dress weird, you look weird, the guys wear makeup, you listen to strange music, 'COURSE ppl will react!!! That's what you want, right? Or you'd go mainstream and nobody would bother ya.

I used to be a Goth looking like death warmed up and I'd have killed meself if nobody even LOOKED.

To a lot of people, the whole "emo" thing seems very contrived. It's like a punk/goth knock off or something with inflections of random weirdness. But the bottom line is people just love to find reasons to hate other people, judge, and categorize. All I can say is just be yourself and ignore the haters. No matter what click or group you might be in, one of the other groups will always find a reason to make fun of you and hate you. People suck. School sucks. lol - Peace :)

Even years ago when I was in high school the preps always thought they were better than everyone.

The emo kids act like they have lower self esteem, which makes them a target. One of my neighbors is an emo kid, and he is really nice. Honest, good kid, does not cut himself.

I wish people would stop judging eachother.

OK matey first you must be new to this whole preppy emo goth world not to worry i hate emos but i will help it is a natural hate between preps, goths and emos, Emos admitted to being a gay form of goth so goth and emos are cool, Preppies are stubborn and just gloat and hate emos and goths because they really think they are better then us, preps pick on emos more because they know they are not going to fight back. go to Urbandictionary.com to look at what the real definition of goth, emo, and preppy is its OK i don't hate you if you have any more questions ask me don't worry i will answer them. oh and people are classified by the majority so if most emos cut themselves that is going to be your main characteristic like how people think Goths worship the devil which isn't true we just don't care or want to care

Because they are different...Every generation has a group of people who get made fun of (punk rockers, goths, etc) Thats life..People judge u by how u look at your age...U have two choices suck it up and deal with it or hange the way you look. This will never change, and when you are older u will see that and that this is a fad, and u will then laugh at yourself for the way u dressed...

Because it makes them feel better about themselves, which is sad that they must tease someone who's different from them just to feel good...also because they dont understand emos, ppl tend to laugh at things they dont understand.

because once upon a time (in my day!) all it was, was a good style of music
now emo is a culture its no longer just music its a lifestyle and a fad
