Most people who speak English will incorrectly say, ''Me and so and so----'' instead of, ''So and so and I---''. Why? You wouldn't say ''me am going''. You would say, ''I am going''.

You are correct. Many people don't know how to use pronouns correctly. But, putting yourself first is not a violation of grammar, but a breach of etiquette. It's considered polite to put yourself last in a list, but it's not a requirement of English grammar.
Most people learn to use words in their home and neighborhoods, not in the classroom. Parents who gently correct their children's grammatical errors are doing them a real service. Sadly, most parents don't know when to use "me" or "I."

It mostly has to do with how the people you're around as a child talk. If you were raised in a family where proper english is used, then you will speak with proper english, but if not, then you will speak incorrectly and any children you raise will pick up on that bad usage. It's like a never ending chain.
Oh and in the way you use it, it would be My brother and I went so and so....

Depends on the context. Either one could be correct. It really doesn't matter much anyway unless you're in a formal setting or writing a paper, then you would want to be sure to use it correctly. American english and british useage is very different. The brits say we americans crucified the english language. They're right lol!

Because me and so and so is really a slang term. but according to an english book and teh law?rules of the english language, so and so and I is correct. But no one is perfect. I bet if you go to London the ppl will say so and so and I because they follow the rule. Like the other guy said. this is America freedom of (bad) speech.

ive said it before and ill say it again our school system sucks. i remember being taught grammer but not very well. we spend more money per capita than any other country on education yet we rank close to 20th. whats the deal. no punisishment for being stupid, lazy and worthless. when we allowed people to live on wellfare indefinitly we made a mistake. its like saying hey sit at home and watch reruns of mammas family and eat for free, dont contribute to our society its cool.

Because there are alot of uneducated people who don't know the correct way to speak. It doesn't mean they are dumb or stupid they just don't know any better. With more education comes more knowledge of correct language but unfortunately people get lazy in their speech & they say whatever comes to them at that moment rather than thinking before they speak which is hard to do when it comes to just simple everyday language. Thinking before you speak is something that is important to do when it comes to speaking TO other people, or about other people, but in general language saying "me and so and so" rather than "so and so and I" just really isn't important enough for them to worry about. So what is said is said however it is said. "THEM" just refers to the people in general and includes ALL types.

It is correct to say "so and so" and I are going..... It is correct to say "so and so" and me when it is an objection of a preposition. It is not considered correct to put oneself first in either case. I wouldn't say that most people say this particular mistake. Perhaps you have encountered poorly educated persons.

You're right. Some people just say it the wrong way. I guess their mamas never learned them to talk English good.

This is true, except in the case where "me" would be the proper choice in the sentence if you removed the other persons name. For example, He will be going with John and me to the concert .. He will be going with me to the concert. (Removing John from the sentence reveals that me is the proper choice.)

You are right but just like some slang words become popular and become the "norm", the same can be said about this phrase. I personally say, " so and so and I."
