I need help with some yarn, I just tried boucle yarn, but I can't see where the stitches are because the yarn is so nubby. I can't see to count my stitches so I'm just guessing, but it's putting me way off in my pattern. Any suggestions? I am using a K hook, I thought a big hook would help but it doesn't, any suggestions? Thanks.

I love boucle but I rarely crochet with it and when I do it's more by feel. The use of a larger hook is helpful, the most important thing is to keep the correct number of stitches. I,myself, feel where the next stitch should go with my left hand, it's slow going at first, but once you get used to it you'll zip right along.
The only other thing I can think of to help would be to use a light colored hook with dark yarn and a dark colored hook with light yarn. If you're working with dark yarns a white towel in your lap will reflect light up through your work and make it a little easier to see what you're doing too.

Get a stitch counter. Available in any hobby store. VERY helpful for boucle yarn and the like, or if you're using a pattern that requires over 50 stitches, like a one-piece afghan. You can also add stitches later on sometimes (unless you're adding more than you should), but that can be very tricky. I'd only recommend doing that if you're very experienced. Good luck!

I have had problems like this before. I switched to a H hook and am having less problems. I haven't used the boucle yarn though. Good luck to you.

Thought I might be able to answer but I use plain cotton yarn, medium, with a smaller hook because I like my afghans tightly woven. Good luck.

Unfortunately some yarns are not always good for all projects. you could try doubling it up with another yarn, that might help.

Good luck... I ran into this too, and got so frustrated, I quit the project! I guess if you were really diligent about adding stitch markers to each stich as you made it, you could keep track that way... eeesh.
