Your not the only one that's wondering I think everyone who ever watched Back to the Future has wondered the same, another reason is because they spend money on so many other dumb missions and projects like pumping oil and getting more I wish there were some flying cars it would save people from getting blown up on a 757?

NASA's Apollo program landed twelve people on the Moon and returned them to Earth: Apollo 11-17, except 13, i.e. six missions, each with three astronauts of which two landed on the Moon. Robot probes have been sent to fly past most of the major planets of the Solar system. The most distant probe spacecraft Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 are on course to leave the Solar system.
Robot landers such as Viking and Pathfinder have already landed on the surface of Mars and several Venera and Vega spacecraft have landed on the surface of Venus. The NEAR Shoemaker orbiter successfully landed on the asteroid 433 Eros, even though it was not designed with this maneuver in mind.
As far as the flying car goes...
A flying car is an automobile that can legally travel on a road and can take off, fly, and land like an aircraft.
The science fiction vision of a flying car is a practical aircraft that the average person can fly directly from any point to another (e.g. from home to work) without the requirement for roads, runways or other special prepared operating areas.

I'm glad the flying car concept never took off (tee hee). Cars running parallel to one another are pretty dangerous, I have no idea what would happen if there were thousands of cars going off in all directions.
Space program - hmmm I think the big problem was going to the moon and realizing not only did it look barren from far away, it looked dark and barren close up. The quest for lunar colonies pretty much dried up.

Haha - excellent question.
Unfortunately, as is with most things these days, greed, power, and money have combined to ensure that no-one outside of Area 51 has got a flying car.
As for the space programme, all of the above, plus the fact that no-one wants to risk their life, or take responsibility for people dying (fear of being sued), which undoubtedly will happen from time to time when you enter the most hostile environment known to man.
