Intel Core (Solo) - One processor one one chip - the slowest of the four

Intel Core 2 - Two processors on one chip - the fastest of the four

Dual 2 core - this is probably refering to the fact that there are Two chips each with two processors on them each effectively 4 processors (theoretically faster than the core 2 but expenside)

dual core - two processors on one chip, the middle ground of the four things here.

Release Dates (in chronological order)
Core
dual Core
Core 2

as time went on the computing power went up and the powerconsumption went down
