I went to the Doctor today and was told I was 2 1/2 cm dialated. I am due to be induced on Aug 25. Does this mean I will not make it to the 25th and I might have my baby sooner??

There is a possibility that you will be giving birth sooner than the 25th... especially if you are dilated to 2 1/2 cm already. Just watch out for your water breaking... but try to drink plenty of fluids up until birth... to keep both you and the baby hydrated. My sister-in-law was pregnant... went into labor a week early. She was in labor and dilated to 6 1/2 cm within 16 hours. They had to do a c-section on her becuz she had high blood pressure and both her and the baby were becoming dehydrated. If you have any doubt in your mind and think that you might be going into labor... go straight into the ER. Good luck!!

You could go anywhere in between that time, as far as being dialated no that does not mean anything really I have been dialated 2cm for 2 1/2 months now and I am still carrying my little guy but I am not due till aug 30th. Goodluck the baby will come when he/she is ready or until you get induced

Don't panic but be ready with your suit case just in case you do go into labor early. Sometimes you can be 2 cm for weeks with no change. Actually that happens a lot. Women can be dilated and not even realize it. You may in fact make it to Aug. 25.
I was the same way. I was dilated to 2cm but didn't go into labor. I got induced.
If you are wanting to go into labor on your own, go for walks with someone. That will put you into labor sooner. If you are wanting to make it to your induction date, then take hot/warm bathes. That will slow your labor progress down.
That's why the people that choose to have there baby's in bathtubs aren't allowed to get into the tub until they are around 5 or 6cm. It slows everything down. Something about the warm water relaxes the body. Your body needs the cramps to go into labor.
Hope this all has helped.
Good luck.

It depends. 2 1/2 is not much. Usually your first baby takes longer than the rest so there is a good chance you will make it to the 25th.

My cousin was having labor pains for 2 weeks before the dr. would induce. When they finally did she had the baby in just a few short hours. It was her fourth, but she said it was the same with all of her first 3. Good luck and congratulations!

It doesn't necessarily mean that. I was dialated to 2 1/2 cm for a couple of weeks. It just depends on when the baby is ready to come.

"yet what does this recommend?" no longer something. it rather is rather no longer a extensive deal being a million/2 cm dilated. women human beings take a seat at a million-2 cm dilated for weeks earlier noticing any exchange. for this reason dilation(and effacement) isn't a sturdy indicator of while hard artwork is going to start up. opportunities are high you nevertheless have some greater weeks to pass.

thats a good question unfortunately there is no way of telling evey womens body is different you could go tomorrow or on your due date you could even go past the day circled on the calendar! even if youre dialated your body still has to wait for the baby's que to go into labor and that means when the baby's lungs have fully developed, then the baby kinda sends a message to your uterus to have contractions as funny as that sounds thats what i've been told by doctors good luck though i know youre ready im 37 weeks and just praying this lil girl will fall out of me while im walking

That doesn't mean anything necessarily I was dilated 2 1/2 for 5 weeks, but it does mean your body is making progression so hold on and your baby will be here soon

Well, you have to be 10cm dialated to have the baby, so you might make it by Friday. Try not to eat spicy foods, have sex, or do jumping jacks:)
