I am only 21 years old, but when I was younger, kids would always say they wanted to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses, etc. Nowadays, kids are saying they want to be rappers, video girls, strippers, and singers. Don't get me wrong; bills have to get paid once you're an adult. But what happened to young people wanting to have careers that they could actually be proud of because they'd be doing something useful, and not be proud of it because they're being called a b**** or a whore? What do you think? Which career would you rather have?

Kid's now a days have different role models than before. They are looking up to people they shouldn't be looking up to.
It is really sad that they have set there standards so low in life. I just hope once they get out in the world they will mature and look for a job that will have people respecting them instead of looking down on them. It is really sad.
I wanted to be a teacher and got my AA degree at a 2 year college. I started a 4 year college but ended up getting married and having a couple of kids. Now I am a stay at home mom.
I love being able to raise my kids and seeing all the different things they discover every day.
It's good that you realize what is happening all around you and you can make sure not to make the same mistakes that so many young people are doing. I am 26 and still feel pretty young even though Sometimes I feel like an old married lady. Will be married now for 2 years this September.
My kids are 10 months apart. Not planned but they are blessings.
Stay on course and make us all proud.

I think this is an effect of all the media influences on young people today. However, there are still those who want to be doctors, etc., but for the aspiring entertainers, if they really have the talent and passion for it, that could be a career to be proud of also. Unfortunately, not many make it big in the entertainment industry, and many of those who dreamt of these careers end up having a more practical, ordinary careers. Personally, I do not know exactly which career I want, but I know I want one in which I can help others, and be a part of making our world a better place.

It's because kids slack off and they think that having boyfriends/girlfriends and being hot is a better use of their time. however, i am twelve, have wanted to be a highschool mathematics teacher when i grow up for over a year now, am a staight a student, take three to four extra-ciricular activities per year, am a teachers pet, have turned down every boy to have asked me out, and have liked a boy for a solid for years for reasons other than bodily attraction. I love to travel, go to church every sunday, despise tight clothes and make-up, and enjoy all arts. They're still decent kids out there today, they're just hard to find. And if they want to be all those things you already listed, let them without complaint or resistance. It's they're life and they're decisions. They have to learn from their own mistakes. just don't worry about it.

I'd rather be happy. Although I don't agree with rappers and strippers, I also don't agree that kids have to be doctors and lawyers. I would rather do something I love and be in between bad and awesome than be unhappy as a doctor or lawyer.

I am 14 and I have always wanted to be a doctor, I think being able to offer your knowledge and expirtise to someone that needs it is one of the most satisfying things. Not to mention you feel good about doing it. But I have to agree with you the times are changing and they are changing fast. However there are still some of us that want to do something that We can be proud of ourselves for putting up a good solid effort everyday, But thats just me.

i understand what your saying. me, i wanna be a psychologist, journalist, or a vet when i'm older. however, not all kids have the same idea as you. for example, i have a friend who is a star at basketball, and she wants to be a player in the WNBA, and the whole school is supporting her on that. and i kno 3 guys that already has a few songs out and they wanna get them out to producers, and if i could i would help them out cuz they are really good. now the ppl who wanna be video girls or strippers or porn stars, shame on them and their parents. what i'm tryna say is that its good if a kid wants to be a doctor, lawyer, basketball player, rapper, or a singer. i'm all fine with that. if thats whats in their hearts, then i'm gonna respect that and support them. but only if its not going to make them look disrespectful or nothin.

i'm 15 years previous and once I dealing with youngsters who're youthful than me or perhaps speaking to associates i say issues like: honey what are you doing? or to little youngsters hon' do no longer do this ok? this is a term of endearment and a very good form of people use it. some might take offense because of the fact they think of you're attempting to call them an adolescent , somebody who would not be conscious of as much as you yet that would not rely. Say what you think of is ultimate interior the placement.

No one know what they want to be. But I don't think Kids are saying they want to be strippers and stuff like that!! I think we all have no idea what we want to be when we grow up so we say thing that will get a whole lot of money and not things that we have work hard for.
