I wish people would realize that when a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, the baby comes from her just as much as it comes from the man that assaulted her. It is not the baby's fault anymore than it is hers. That said, I honestly don't know if I could carry a baby that was the product of rape, so I am not about to tell another woman to. I agree that abortion should not be banned totally. I think that if we should stop spending so much money trying to pass some law that will just drive the business into the nightmare of underground abortion clinics, and instead set up counseling centers for girls and women who find themselves pregnant. Centers that offer education, shelter and support during and after their pregnancy would be a lot more helpful than a thicker lining in a politicians pocket.

Keep in mind that the circumstances of the baby's conception are never the baby's fault. Would you kill a born infant because her father was a rapist? Would you say that she was less worthy to live than the rest of us? If not, why is the child in the womb fair game? Why should the innocent baby be punished by death for the crime of her father?
Abortion increases the grief and trauma of a woman who has been raped. When she aborts her child (yes, it is HER child, too!), she becomes the aggressor, violently hurting another person the way she was hurt. The knowledge of what she has done will haunt her long after she has healed from the rape.
In the case of incest, abortion allows the molester to "cover up" his crime and continue his abuse. Molesters often force abortion on their victims.
Recently, a study was done involving nearly 200 women who had conceived children in rape or incest. NONE of the women who gave birth to their child regretted it, while many of the women who aborted their babies expressed extreme regret. For more information on this, see:

And for another story of a married woman who was raped and chose to keep her baby, see:

I have mixed feeling like you do on this topic. I understand where your coming from on saying that a woman shouldn't have to carry the child of the man that raped her. But then again, I also feel like it's still part of her. But we can't judge unless we've been there and I haven't. I think abortion should ONLY be allowed in extreme circumstances such as the mother's life is in danger, incest & rape. But did you know, rape only accounts for 1% of all abortions done! 78% is because it's a inconvience to the mother. My personal opinion is if you know you don't want kids and it matter's that much to you that you would kill that child, then keep your legs closed. Just that simple.

This is a hard issue because it would be hard to give birth to a child who was conceived by rape but on the other hand it is like another wrong added on top of the first one because it is killing the child. I mean if the rape victim gives birth to the child they can give it up for adoption but it would be a hard pregnancy emotion wise because of how the child was conceived.

I beleive it should be the individual's choice. I do think that if a person does decide to have a abortion they should have to take some sort of class before hand that gives them more info. about a abortion and the process, I beleive it would change alot of peoples minds. I dont think I myself could ever go through with it but I have never been put in the situation of being raped & getting pregnant or having my life endangered if I had the baby...

Although I do not believe in aborting a child because people were careless, I agree in principal with what you say. This woman I know of was raped and became pregnant, was it the child's fault that she was raped, absolutely not, she had this baby and gave it up for adoption. Another thing to consider.

Oh, is that so!!!!!
The child is an innocent victim in all of it. Have the baby and give it up for adoption to someone who can't have children and will give that child all the love it deserves. A baby doesn't deserve death because of an azz hole who did something horrible to the mommy. They don't ask questions in the hospitals. If you don't want your baby, they will take it right then and there, no questions asked.
You shouldn't punish a baby for the wrongs of another.
It's not fare. A baby is innocent and pure.
First off it would be hard to think of it as your own but it is yours. The women is apart of that baby also.
I think even though a women may have been raped she should have that baby. She may hate was is living inside her but when that little baby is born, she just might change her mind about giving it away.
I hope this has given you something to think about.
Yes rape is horrible. But something good could come out of such a horrible act. It may be hard to see at first but in the end when you see a newborn baby who needs a mommy's love, needs you in order to live. It just might make a difference.

I personally could not have an abortion, however I will not judge someone who has had one. I don't feel it is right that the governments should be allowed to impose their religious beliefs on others. I am a Christian, but don't feel that our US government should tell us that we can no longer have abortions because it is murder in the eyes of God. How do they know that? Did they have a personal talk with God? Let God judge, not man. Besides, some religions teach that women must cover their heads and/or be 100% submissive to their husbands, cannot speak in church and are the lesser race. What if our government decided to impose laws to that effect? We would protest. It is the same thing.

Yeah I have to agree with that. I support a woman's choice however. Although stupid kids who don't use protection shouldn't really get that privelege! I use birth control and I am very careful, so if it happened to me I may get an abortion. Plus if you are on birth control and get pregnant there is a large chance the child will be born with severe defects. But people who are raped should definitely be allowed to abort it.

It is a tricky situation. Even so, regardless how the child has been conceived it would still be murder aborting her/him. Plus, if it was only made legal for rape victims anyone could say that was the case and it's difficult to prove it. You know?
