I am 24 weeks pregnant and am wondering what the cervix should feel like. This is my third pregnancy and my two children are 10 years and 2 years old. I have a cousin who just lost her first baby at 22 weeks and 4 days because of a problem with her cervix...so now I am concerned (unecessarily I am sure). Thanks in advance for any information.

Not. If you are stressed it will feel stressed so.. in your case... it will feel stressed. Do not fondle your cervix. It may cause the problems you want to avoid.

If you are wondering ask somebody who studied the subject like you gynecologist.

A cervix at 24 weeks should be long, thick and closed. It should feel hard. Because this is not your first pregnancy, you cervix may not be closed completely and may be softer then if this was your first pregnancy, and this is not a worry.

At 24 weeks you should not be examined if not necessary. So please do not ask the doctor to examine you if there is no real cause for concern.

Hope this helps.

Cervix-es come in all sizes-they are like finger prints, however the ideal cervix is long and thin. I do not think you have anything to worry about since you already have two children, but go and see your gyno he'll be able to tell you about the form of your cervix and in the mean time google it on Internet-good luck-almost there
