The character John Abbott in " The young & the restless" is on his death bed . How do you feel about it?. Unless the man has asked to be out of his character or not renew his contract, I do not think it is fair. However I believe the storylines are just great!

I don't think Jerry Douglas asked to get out of his contract--it was a storyline move. He's been saying in print how grateful he is for the long run as John Abbott, and how sad it was to film the final scenes. I will miss his character--he should know what Gloria was really doing at Jabot for one thing--as he's been the Abbott patriarch for the years I've kept up with Y&R.

I'm really sad they had to kill him off! He was a great actor!Gloria is really pissed at Jack for pushing to unplug the machine but John would have wanted that! The Young and the Restless do have great storylines,that is why they are #1.

YES!!!!! i'am i don't think they should go around killing off the veteran characters!!!!! they have been loved for years!!!! i will seriously miss John Abbott!!!!! He was a very important part of the Y&R canvas!!!!!! ITs totally unfair that they had to kill him off for dramtic liscense! If they absolutley had to kill someone they should have killed that meddler and whinner sharon!!!!!!! I mean killing John Abbott is like Killing Victor Newman!!!!!!! Seriously Stupid move on the shows part!!!!!!!! I have watched it for a very long time and he has always been one of my favorite characters!!!!!! i didn't like it when they sent him to prison for killing the jerk Tom Fisher but at least in prison he was alive!!!!!!!!! They Pulled the plug in todays episode and it made me sad and mad at the same time!!!!

I didnt even watch this show until this summer....I thought that they were going to knock sharon off the show...I thought she would have died when she was kidnapped. O well.. I didnt really know the character john abbott so i suppose that it was a little sad that he died but like I said I only saw him like 2 when he was in prison...Why was he in prison in the first place??? Please tell me

As you well know every Friday there is something new and exciting about the Y&R... I think he'll return only if it's to make Gloria happy. The writers need people on pins and needles; that's a soap opera.

I thought he would have lived longer though. I can't believe it everyone was so happy he was going to come home and spend time and suddenly he dies, I personally think it's unfair also.

Awe...I am now. I used to watch Y&R years ago, but haven't seen in the last 8 years. I always liked him and Y&R was my favorite soap. Tried to start watching again, but was so lost on what was going on.

He's probably got a movie or a night time tv show he's doing and John'll be in coma til it either works out or it doesn't .
