They are still in circulation and can be used without a problem.
I have noticed that in some areas of the country these bills are more widely used than others, much like the Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea dollar coins.
ccv seems to have misunderstood what the treasury department was saying. They are saying that they can't force more people to use $2 bills or force banks to stock them.

Thomas Jefferson $2 bills are legal tender and can be spent like regular cash...
I don't know what you mean by "markings.."...
It would not be wisee to spend them, as they are in much smaller supply and tend to have higher value.

Not necessarily, businesses do not have to take any currency.
"However, neither the Treasury Department nor the Federal Reserve System can force the distribution or use of any denomination of currency on banks, businesses or individuals."

what sort of "markings"? $2 bills are legal tender just like ones, fives, hundreds, etc....
you should be able to spend them anywhere, or take them to a bank.
If someone refuses to take them, you should ask the reason, and then sue them for discrimination!

i don't think you should use them. your relative obviously saved a bunch for a reason. and that reason is so that the $2 bills could be priceless in the next 50 years/. you should save them. they could be worth a lot more later on.

yes, they are legal money
what kind of markings are on them? If they have red seals or old dates, they may be worth a lot more than $2

They're legal tender, so yes you can. Might get some weird looks, but they're still cash.
What markings would make them have no value?
