I am looking to buy a PDA. I don't want to spend more than $150 - $200.
What would be a good one from your experience? Or should I sign up for a cell phone deal that comes with built in PDA? Is it very costly, or is it worth it?

I am not looking for a fancy PDA (don't care about color screen, etc), but I do want it to be somewhat versatile. I need to use it primarily as an organizer. I need to be able to check my email, the internet, etc.

Palms are cheaper. Some files have to be converted between it and a computer (all platforms)

Pocket PCs are more expensive (new models), but can basically drag and drop the files. (Use a card reader as sync software is slow usually). If you have a Mac I thought a saw a program that allows you to use a PPC on it. I've seen cheap ppc on geeks.com

As far as a combination device how will that help you if you need to take notes, of look something up. I suggest seperate devices, unless you are fully committed to a combined device.

There are a lot out there, but you may want to reconsider the color screen. I've had a bunch PDAs over the years and when I saw one that had the same screen size and resolution but was in color, it was clear that color greatly enhances readability.

I will admit that I used to think High Resolution and Color were extravagant and added little value for the things I used it for. But now I'll never go back.

If you don't have a cell phone service yet, or it is about to expire, i would recommend signing up and getting (as part of a deal) the HTC Wizard. It's a PDA/Pocket PC phone. They run about $400 new retail, so you should be able to find one with a sign-on package. Each cell company calls it something else though, HTC Wizard is the manufactures model name. T-moble calls it a MDA, Cingular some string of numbers. My recomendation anyways.

You might want to try cheapest prices search engine. They have all of the PDAs and prices from almost every merchant on the net.
Good luck.

I would recommend that you get the Palm Tungsten C, which is a model that was released in 2003. It is no longer available in retail, so my suggestion is to look for it on eBay at http://www.ebay.com

It is a very fast and powerful PDA that includes a built-in keyboard, WiFi, and gorgeous large screen.

Here is one Tungsten C that looks good:
