Drinking alcohol is 18? I know alcohol is dangerous, but surely driving a car is a potential death machine. Especially in someone that young. I know some people that have started driving and iv seen them speed and drive dangerously. One even knocked a younger pupil over. You are not even classified as an adult at 17. Anyone else think this is crazy?

Being from the UK, I totally agree with you. At 17 they are dangerous drivers and putting the insurance up for the rest of us too (at least thats the excuse)

By the way, 16 to get married is too young also. You should at least be considered an adult before you can drive, drink, get married or die for your (or someone elses) country.

I think it's crazy, but where do you live? In the US, you must be atleast 16 to drive a car and 18 to smoke and 21 to drink alcohol.

It's utterly idiotic that unnecessary privileges and actions that can kill are legal before the right to participate in society.

The voting age should be 16: people are old enough to have an opinion and young enough to be effected by the law. The drinking age, the age for driving a car and for joining the military should all be 21.

Give people five years of responsibility and time to think about the consequences of their actions before they do them, and see what sort of citizens you produce. They wouldn't be any worse than the people we have now.

You're not in the States, are you.

If you think your legal age limits are stupid, come on over. I'll show you stupidity.

Howabout states with a 14 year old limit to marry, a 16 year age limit to drive, an 18 year age limit to be drafted (must register), and a 21 year old drinking age?

You haven't seen anything yet!

I am not sure where you live but the drinking age in the states is 21 and driving in most states is 16. Now would you really want to give both privileges to kids all the same time? Not only would you have inexperienced drivers you would potentially have drunk inexperienced drivers.

not sure what state you live in, however most states allow a provisional drivers license' to a juvenile at 16. Drinking ages vary. You are emancipated and legally an adult at the age of 18 in the US.
