No, they will not.

The UN is not a military organization, it is rife with corruption, and it has no power to enforce any resolutions that it might pass. It is kept afloat by the goodwill of the liberal American media and Crooked politicians who use it to justify various local actions. If the US ever got out of the UN, it would collapse as an organization within a week.

I would like to think that the UN could maintain peace in the middle east, however I am not sure if they will be able to at this time.

Before we achieve world peace, we need to look at the real reasons why the fighting started in the first place. This may involve some drastic and stark choices. For example. Many Muslims do not recognise Israel's right to exist. How do you solve that? By the same token, the Israeli's argue that Jews existed long before Muslims so they have a greater claim on the land.

Before we can achieve any sort of peace, America needs to stop funding Israel and Iran etc needs to stop funding Hezbollah and other terrorist organisations

You might be surprised at how effective UN peacekeeping forces have been in their history. Granted they are not always effective, but quite often they do keep warring parties apart. Whether they are effective depends on how well they can position themselves, and whether the warring parties will hesitate to shoot because they do not want to make an enemy of the entire rest of the world. Both Hezbollah and Israel do care about how they are viewed by the UN, so I do not think either of them will be likely to fire on UN soldiers. That was not always true in Serbia for example, or some other places where UN peacekeepers were not altogether effective.

Whoopee - let's all look at Bonos' video, eh? Don't you find something ironic a millionaire rock star is telling the working classes to part with THEIR money instead of setting an example? The guy is a whining big-nosed egomaniac who uses Africa to sell records.

The U.N. can only send troops in as peace keepers. They have no other authority. I don't think they will succeed in Lebenon until the country is willing to put its foot down and keep Hezbolla in control. Until that happens this will continue to happen .....
