I just got finished watching an episode where the town of Walnut Grove shut down. The Ingalls family & the Olsen family all moved away. Harriet Olsen was working as a barmaid. Caroline Ingals was working & living in a hotel. THis is also where they found their "son" , Albert living under a building. They later returned to a deserted Walnut Grove but they never explained WHY they left Walnut Grove to begin with. Anybody know?

From what I remember there was no rain all crops failed and they had to go somewhere to make a living. They did return again, I am not sure of the time span, but walnut grove florished. :-)

The crops weren't going to be enough for them to live on so everyone packed up and moved on. The Ingall's headed towards a larger city to find work.

The people of Walnut Grove learn that somebody else owns the town and this person wants
everybody to leave Walnut Grove. Everybody in the town decides that the person can have the land, but he can't have the town. The townspeople blow everything up to prevent anybody else from using their creation.

I think it had something to do with the lumbermill shutting down
