This summer I've been interning at Boeing in a general business capacity. I am an accounting major (one year left) and my dream is to work for an accounting firm. If Boeing offers me a job for after graduation, should I take it? Is there a way I could say maybe and then wait and see if I get an offer from an accounting firm, or would stringing them along only to say no later be unethical?

The only person that can answer that one is you. Hopefully, you've gotten a good enough feel for the place as an intern so that you can make an informed decision, but hey the heart wants what it wants. As to the second part, job offers like that are usually take it or leave it. You could always start off there and then later on go to another company, but maybe, to my knowledge, is interpreted as no. So I wouldn't count on that working. Besides, just because you start there, doesn't mean you have to stay there. All the same, good luck.

No, you can't say Maybe. It's not only unethical, but they won't go for it. If they make an offer, ask for a few days to think it over. Contact the accounting firm adn ask them for a decision. Tell them the truth. You've been offered a job in a lesser capacity and would rather work for them...see what they say.

When might they offer you this job? If it is close to graduation, I would ask when they need an answer. Then apply at the firm you want to work for immediately and see if you have a chance. They might not even have an opening.

hell yeah, take the job. It gets you in the door and betters your business experience...which goes hand in hand with accounting. I'd take it and look for another job in the time being to see if you can find something better...but at least you have this HUGE reference and great experience!
