One more thing I couldn't care less about. A lot of people get no jail time and only probation for their DUI, no matter being a celebrity or not.

I wish I received justice as swiftly as Mel Gibson.
Three years probation is a bit excessive for a DUI. The judges in MD give fines for first offenders and license suspensions.

I've had 2 DUI's and I haven't got any jail time yet (for the DUIs), and I have quite the criminal backround. I don't have probation either, I just had a fine, so sounds like he's getting treated worse than me

Nobody gets jail time for a DUI unless you hurt somebody, or it is your 3rd offense. It's a friggen misdemeanor. Do you have any idea how many people get DUI's in the US every day? Can you imagine what it would do to jail population. Give me a break. Do you think they send 18 yr old kids to jail? Lame question.

because jail time isn't mandatory for a first time offense of DUI. Probation and community is pretty much the norm, I believe

Its BS! After your first DUI you should spend a year in jail. Second DUI, two years in jail. Third DUI, life in jail. Its dangerous, its dumb and it kills people.

um.. this is AMERICA and not Saudi Arabia.. we dont send people to jail for drinking and driving. I know several people that have been charged with drunk driving, many of them multiple times. And none of them have ever been sentenced to jail time.

I think he's walking proof that the rich are never held accountable for anything.
Edit: Todd said, "I know several people that have been charged with drunk driving, many of them multiple times."
Really?!?! That's scary! And WRONG.

You or I would surely go to jail but he's a "celebrity". I guess money does buy your way out of anything!
