I bled for three weeks after I gave birth to my daughter. Then the last few days I suddenly have a very thick, white, kind of stringy (like snot) discharge. Then, after a few dasy of having that it has started to have a rusty red bloodish like color with it. Is this a normal dishcharge after pregnancy? There is no bad smell with it and no pain. Its bothersome though because we cant have sex with that nasty thick discharge...should i get it checked out or is this pretty typical. If so, will it go away and when....

It's pretty typical. It should go away within the next couple of weeks.

As long as there is no pain, itching or odor, it is probably not an infection, but that type of discharge is not normal. I would have it checked out, or at least call your OB office to see if they think you need to be seen. Better safe than sorry.

Congratulations on that baby girl!

You need to wait at least a month before having sex and yes it is normal having a certain amount of discharge, however I'd ask my doctor about this first and foremost.

that is the norm. it is nearly at an end just another week. seems to last forever. get good rest now while baby rests. another while baby will be more active and demand more. s e x will come soon, excuse the pun, take it easy first time might hurt a little especially if you've had stitches.

If you stopped bleeding and have started bleeding again, this may be a sign that you are overdoing it. Rest for a couple of days and see what happens.
