Sciatica. I injured my back and had severe pain and numbness down my right leg. I couldn't sit down or stand up without serious pain. My problem cleared itself up after about 6 months.

Most doctors wait for the swelling to go down if you can stand it. They prescribe anti inflammatory drugs etc.

Otherwise there is always surgery in which they slice open your back and cut the inflammed nubs off and sew you back up.

I would try to get an M.R.I. to see how severe you condition is before you do anything.

You have a compressed nerve and you need a doctor. If you can't feel your leg, if you damage it in any way (say a small cut), you don't feel it, it gets infected and you can lose your leg. Why do you think so many severe diabetics are amputees? Same reason.

You could well be looking at paralysis. Or at the least, pain. The nerve to your leg is being pinched off.

Permanent disability.
Basically you will lose muscle function and sensation to the regions affected. You will probably walk with a limp and be unable to run, etc.
