When I left home, I missed my mom and her cooking. I missed my friends, and the familiarity of my surrounds. I missed not feeling safe and I missed the predictability of my old life. yes I missed all these things, but I looked forward to the change, to meeting new people and experiencing new things. After awhile, I missed not being missed.

If I were to "leave my home". It would be the things that many would say, my family, my child, my pet, some stuff.
Yet this question was answered for me during hurricane Rita.
I left town in my car filled with my husband, child, cat and some stuff and with the real knowledge based on Katrina, I left it all behind. The reality- nothing matters except YOU and your loved ones. Stuff is stuff.
My life is so simple now. I don't waste my time worring about keeping up with the "new and fancy". I enjoy what I have for as long as I have it. I buy better quality items and far less crap. I enjoy TV and don't buycd's or dvd's. It is amazing what life will teach you. The quality of my life is much more important, so is good insurance.

Of course I would miss my family, but I really don't see too much of them even when I'm around. My husband works ten hours a day, and weekends are hectic. My kids are grown and have their own busy lives. Therefore, I would miss my cat. She's not the friendliest creature in the world, but she and I think alike. We're both independent and somewhat aloof. We're always there for each other. She depends on me to feed her and give her treats, and I depend on her quiet and steady company. She always manages to be near me whatever I'm doing. She's getting up in years now, and I cherish every day that I spend with her. So my cat would be the one I'd miss the most.

If the question is WHO, it would be my family, boyfriend and Golden Retriever of course -only the closest people in my life. I guess I could live without most of my friends a longer period of time without feeling too nostalgic.
If the question is WHAT, i would be my room, my clothes, souvenirs, my guitar, my great life I have here in Zagreb.
