They will be free and everything will go back to the way it has been since the Stone Age, wait... that's right, they plan to stay in the Stone Age. We should just let them be.

Democracy or any type of free government only works when those being governed are willing to accept it.

And that requires a tolerance for differences, the ability to work with and compromise with people who disagree with you, and a willingness to abide by the majority decision.

Iraq has shown in the past few years that it doesn't have the mindset or the temperament for the type of government we're trying to force on them. It's like trying to force a 7-year-old to attend college. They're not ready. And that's not going to change whether we stay or not.

Leaving might not give them any more freedom than staying, but it would likely reduce the total violence, and definitely reduce the number of American deaths.

Looks to me like the Saudi / Wahhabi plan is falling right into place. Iraq goes into civil war and the Sunni and Shina kill each other. If this happens then Ben Laden wins. He despises all non Arab Peninsula Muslims.

Debatable. The country is spiraling into civil war, no one wants the coalition there anymore but if we leave it will open the country even further to attacks. Unless stability can be restored then we will have completely taken the Iraqi way of life.

It just seems like they want Allah to make the rules and when given the opportunity for one person one vote, they will opt to vote in an Islamic fundamentalist regime and that will end their freedom.

Not for very long. The U.S. is working with the Iraqi people. When they can defend themselves, then we can leave.
