I used a toy similar to the one in the link below. As soon as she held onto it, she was off and walking! She never crawled she went from standing up to walking. She is 9 now. Good luck!

My 7 months old gets up on all fours and tries to crawl but falls on her face.

You can encourage your baby to walk by standing or kneeling in front of him and holding out your hands. Or you might hold both his hands and walk him toward you. He'll probably also enjoy a toddle truck or push toy that he can hold on to as he walks. (Look for toddle toys that are stable and have a wide base of support.) The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strongly discourages using baby-walkers. Because they make it so easy for your child to get around, walkers can prevent his upper leg muscles from developing correctly. And because they make it possible for your child to reach hot items or poisons that he wouldn't normally be able to get to, they aren't safe. You can also hold off on introducing shoes until your baby is walking around outside or on rough or cold surfaces regularly. Going barefoot helps improve balance and coordination.

I had a 1 story house and let all 3 of mine use a walker. They loved being able to get around, and a kept the house walker-proof. Just make sure to watch out if there is a pet or other siblings. Getting caught on the back of the foot with a walker hurts!

Walkers are dangerous and they don't teach a child a thing. Neither do excersaucers. In order to learn to walk a child needs to be able to sustain thier weight, one foot at a time. The only things you can do to encourage it is by leading them with your hands, encouraging them to stand and cruise (or use coffee tables and other objects to get around). As far as crawling goes you don't necessarily have to crawl before you walk.

Just let her hold your hands. You don't need all that other junk. Let her hold your hands or use the furniture to cruise. Encourage her.....but don't push. She'll learn in time. It's not a race and it's normal for babies to not be walking yet at 12 months, although most are getting close at that age.

Hi, an important question pops up when you say that ur 10 mnth old isn't crawling: Do u put her on the floor a lot or not? If you put her on the floor and she's still not crawling there's nothing to worry about yet, as crawling isn't mandetory. This only means that she will walk straight away. I heard that from my pediatrician. U should worry if she isn't growing well. ( i mean if her weight gain isn't well... etc

No you shouldn't worry. Some babies bypass crawling & go straight to standing.

A walker won't help to "teach" her to walk. That is a brain function.

If a baby tries to walk before their bones are hardened enogh to support them, they will become bow legged. And could face possible corrective surgery later in life.

Give her time!
When she does walk you will change your mind about that wish you had!

They say don't use a walker cus they put all their weight on their butts I used a pushed toy that had a handle so that she could lean on it I would get behind her and let her go that way I could catch her when she started to fall.. She started walkin the very next month when she was 11 months

The walker is fine. It helps get the child to get up on hs/her own once in a while to walk. My dad used to take a cloth diaper (or use a dish towel) and wrap it around the childs' middle and make a game of it and encourage the child to walk giuding him/her for an hour a day. It was tiring, but eventually my two younger brothers and my youngest sister finally caught on.

you can start by engaging her in activities that will make her learn how to act without support and how to crawl. eventually, she will learn to walk within her 12 months. Lifting heads precedes sitting, which precedes crawling and later, walking. Yes, you can also use walkers and practice her by reaching for you and when she does, reward her with something she loves. That way you can practice her motor skills and may reduce the normal rate of knowing how to walk from its regular 12 months to maybe her 11 1/2. :)
