I had it happen when I was in my teens around when I was just 15.

I think that many gals who are lesbians
may have been raped, molested, or at least
physically abused in their past. This abuse
was very likely a major contributing factor in
turning them away from men & on to women.

I honestly don't think being raped makes a man or woman switch their desire for a particular sex. If you were a lesbian, you were one before you were raped. Perhaps you were a bisexual. The only thing that I can see really happens after an assault, is that you fear that specific sex, and you turn to your own sex for comfort. But I still think there has to have been some degree of attraction there before the assault.
I'm so sorry this happened to you, but being gay isn't the product of assault, just embrace it as who you are :)

I know quite a few women who I'm pretty sure would not be gay had it not happened to them. Most people assume that you are born the way you are born and that may be the case for a lot of people but I personally believe anything that happens to you especially that traumatizing has a huge impact on your life.

Something like that happened to a friend of mine. She and her roommate were raped when they were in college. When we get together with girlfriends and start talking about guys and sex and so on, she actually gets sick to her stomach. I don't think that experience was what "made" her lesbian though. She was probably born that way. Listen, just make sure you get counseling to get over that bad thing that happened to you, okay. You don't want it to get in the way of you being happy.

All kinds of unexpected reactions can happen from rape, so it wouldn't surprise me. I do have a male friend who was sexually abused and raped when he was young and grew up bisexual - though whether or not it was because he was sexually abuse or raped, I do not know. He could have had a non abusive past and grew up bisexual.

After all, I grew up with a non abusive past, and I'm bisexual.

I've been raped, but I knew I was bisexual prior to it happening. I believe it did effect things. From years of research, I do not believe events such as that can change one's sexuality, but they can certainly bring it to the surface.
