a young Indian woman just married, as ritual, sent her ahead of her husband with all the gifts of jewels and gold, were set upon by thieves.

they stole the gold and cornered her with the intentions of physically abusing her

she ran towards a tree and prayed to god " Please let to earth swallow me whole rather that let these men abuse be"

At that moment that actually occurred. The earth swallowed her whole. The thieves after hearing her prayer and seeing what happened apparently became priests and the tree is still there with a holy marking.
