no pollutants are heavy compounds and attach themselves to the water molecules. You will be drinking all the pollutants (smog) along with the water which are carcinogens (cause cancer)

Well that depends where you live. If you leave near factories and what not, then don't drink it. But if you live in a fairly calm neighbourhood with little pollution and smog, then it is safe. The ground acts as a natural filter and gets most of the bad stuff out by the time it is evaporated. As long as you drink the water before it hits the ground its safe. You can also drink rain water off of plants (non poisoneous plants of course).

It depends where you live. Near any large cities or industrial areas probably no. In the country or the mountains probably yes, at least in the West. Remember that each rain drop forms around a tiny bit of dirt, dust, pollen, or pollutant molecule through condensation. So each drop isn't pure water, but water and something else. If you collect it in a bucket, then you could let the sediment settle before drinking or you could use a water filter as sold by Katadyn or PUR to filter it first.

NOT atleast in the present times we're all living in!! Water drops before reaching the surface get mixed with the air and all the gases (pollutants) .These things react with each other as water combines with everything(usually) and form acids !! And ofcourse you can't drink acids!!! Just for a check, collect some fresh rain water in a bucket or a tub and see the colour difference........you'll know !!!!

Of course you can. It is somewhat clean because the impurities remain on the earth when the water evaporates in the normal water cycle.
Acid rain is a problem in areas of the world where there is a high pollution rate.

Yes. Rain water is safe to drink. It is only slightly acidic. I would not drink it if you live in a big city though, because the pollution will contaminate it.

Depends on where you live...people in New York for example probably should not due to pollution,smog,etc...however people living in say the mountains of Montana would be fine drinking the rain water.

I would not drink rain water, especially if you live near or around lots of traffic and other factors that can pollute it
