No. They always say: "Because it's there". That's enough for me.

Mt. Everest in the Himalayas, as opposed to Mt. Everest...somewhere else? Um, yeah, thanks for making that distinction.
It's a challenge. It's hard work. If you succeed, you will certainly have a major sense of accomplishment, and can say you've done something very few other people have done. In its own way, I'm sure it's entirely thrilling, a wild adventure. Looking at it in that light, why go skydiving, backpacking, whitewater rafting, or on any other adventure? Because it's there. For the rush. For the thrill. To say you did it. Because live on the sofa watching other people do awesome things really isn't living, now is it?

I can understand wanting to climb Everest.... but dying doing it is absurd! That means that the dead climber's ego was in control.

It'd be a cool experience, would make for a great story. It could also give great personal satisfaction if they managed to reach the top...lots of reasons I guess.

I don't really see the point and I don't know why it makes some people feel so great about themselves. It's just one of those unnecessary accomplishments.

because the conditions are deadly and just to say they did it.....
I honestly think its over rated. Its mainly for people who have no meaning for their life and need new accomplishments to give meaning for their being
