I am an expert at this with 2 dogs 2 cats and 2 toddlers....NATURES MIRACLE it is available at all pet supply stores. apply with garden watering can let sit then blot. No steam cleaning needed. stain and smell will be gone. If you wish to steam clean anyway use 3 cups white vinegar to each 2 gallons of water in machine. If you use soap your carpet will attract dirt and get dirty very quickly

Go to any pet store and buy any cleaner that cleans urine and pet stains. This also works for human urine on carpet. These cleaners also takes odor out of the carpet.

you should add a cup of white vinegar to a gallon of water to get the stain and smell out then shampoo and rinse. there is also a product called odebann that will do the trick.

Girlycd has it right, go to a pet-supplies store and get the enzyme cleaner. It really works. And it's good to keep around for removing any kinds of organic odors/stains, like blood. It actually gets rid of the urine odor.

Vinegar will make it smell worse, though the stain will be gone. Use carpet shampoo instead and brush it briskly before rinsing.

Put some baking soda and water in that vinegar, and that works well. It foams up and really gets in there. if that does not work (usually does for me) get a stronger commercial cleaner.

dissolve about 1 tablespoon baking powder in a galss of water then spill this on the carpet. Let it work then dry up with towels or with machine.

Venigar is acidic thus, it can bleach out the color of the carpet.

Use the spray for pet stains. Let it sit for a few moments. You may need to do it a few times.
