Well, we have had awakenings in the past, and there's no denying that we have a very strong religious streak in us as a nation. There's something about American-style Christianity, it never lets itself be left on the sidelines for long!
I feel, personally, that now we are rearing up for an awakening. It seems that people are getting more conservative, and there are lots of political issues that are very divisive because of people's religious beliefs. It seems to me that religion was not as much a part of public and political life even five years ago as it is now.
That having been said, I would love to see the US go the way of Europe and become a more secular, at least when it comes to making laws that affect the whole country, Christians and non-Christians alike. Maybe we have to work through our waves of religious awakenings before learning to be more secular. Remember that Europe was marked throughout the Middle Ages by religious fanaticism, and they did eventually grow out of it!
Before anyone comments that I'm assuming that only Christians populate the nation and that it's rude or something, I'd like to point out that the US is an overwhelmingly Christian nation, and any religious awakening would be--like the ones we've had in the past--Christian in nature.

I'm actually very Faithful as for religious i think its a plague that has followed man threw time only to control the masses of the ignorant.
That which is not excepted threw the church or supports the church is evil thoughts like this killed over 40 million Native Americans living here in North America when the new world was discovered
Stem cell research can save many lives if research moves forward yet fundamentalist of today block it with the stupidest man to sit in the oval office.
Not to long ago test tube babies where the firestorm I wonder..... how many religious fundamentalists have families now because envitro fertilization.

America is already far more Religious than Europe. I doubt whether America will get even more Religious but I foresee Europe becoming less so.

I hope your not talking about Christianity. I always shudder when one thinks of a political party being controlled by religion and forcing it on other folks. The right wingers have forgotten this county was based on people who were escaping religious persecution of one kind or another. People still come to America looking for religious freedom. Christians often want to convert people and are the most vocal and judging group I have found in American religion. It always disturbs me when I hear people talking about doing this or not doing that because you will go to hell. Christ specifically told us not to judge.

First off what do you mean by "Religious Awakening"? If you mean everyone following one religion IE Christanity. Then I hope not. If you mean becoming a diverse society that respects other peoples choices of faith then yes please I'll take two helpings. Oh and pass the wiccians they go great with my pagan and budhists.

Yes , it most certainly will, probably in the next few years, because the time is coming !
The Bible says in, Habakkuk chapter 1 verse 5, Then the Lord said, "Look at the Nations and be amazed ! Watch and be astounded at what I will do! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it".

Why would you call it an awakening? Wouldn't it be going backword for us if we were to become a theocratic society?
