I have a DSL router (Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL Modem) and a switch. Siemens SpeedStream 4200 ADSL Modem has a USB and one LAN port. So I can use only two computers. Can I use switch to connect more two computers (total four) without using any server?

And How? Should I just connect the DSL and the switch with a RJ45 connector and all four computers to the switch?

depending on the IP address...and the modem that you have.
It has to be a private IP address such as 192.168.X.X.
You can also purchase a router from a computer store and most routers have four ports in the back that you can hook more then two computers to.
The router is similar to a switch in regards that the dsl modem connects to it.
If your dsl modem is connecting two computers, its more then likely running a private ip address so make sure that if you do decide to get a router make sure that whatever private address that is for the gateway (router) is different, for example, 10.10.0.1.
More then likely, the dsl modem that you have is a smart modem and only allows for two ip addresses hence you would not be able to connect a switch to it.
Your best bet is to invest in a router and run it that way.
You can also keep the switch and run it from the router and have even more computers using the same dsl.
Be warned though, the more computers that you have connected, the slower the speed.
Also depending on how your modem is setup, there may be some configurations that you need to make within the router...dont let that scare you its easy as they give you a book with it and they take you step by step.
Also whatever you do dont tell your ISP that you have a router for connection of more computers because they will want to charge you for all computers connected....tell them its for the firewall features if they find out that you have one.
Besides they are great firewalls and I strongly recommend them on any network for added security.

Hope this helps

I don't think your speedstream 4200 is a router. It's just a modem. If it's not a router, you won't be able to connect multiple computers, even with the switch. You'll have to have a router to get the dynamic IP from your ISP on the WAN side, then push out IP's to the computers through DHCP on the LAN side.

I have a Linksys Ethernet Cable/DSL router for 2 computers. If DSL is thru the phone lines, I find more that one computer on it sloooows the internet waaaaaay down. On Cable Hi-speed, such as Comcast, I could connect up to 4 computers, and the are all blazingly fast! I think your router should have in puts or outputs for up to 4 computers. At least that's how my Linksys is configuired. I quit DSL because it was annoyingly slow.

You can connect an ethernet switch to your router to expand the number of computers that are connected.

I am selling one at http://www.eptop.com
This is a "like new" 8 port switch, which works great. I have 7 of these all together, and have more than I need.

These are
GIGAFAST EZ800-S 10/20/100/200Mbps Mini Switch 8 X RJ-45 Ports
and they are also available at http://www.newegg.com
If you need ethernet Patch cables, then buy some more of those at NewEgg. Their price can't be beat.

I concur. With one thing to keep in mind. Typically your modem will be set to dynamically configure an IP to a computer connected to it; assuming it will do this for the switch (which is unlikely), you've got to make sure your computers are configured for the same network the modem is putting the switch onto. Or if your modem is configurable, as most are, make everything static (inside port for your modem, port to your switch - if you want it as a managed switch, and your computers. Your default gateway would be the IP on the inside port of your modem.

no you can not. You need to buy a ROUTER.
Routers ship with "4" Ports built-in to it, so you dont have to buy a switch.

Linksys Router, Netgear Routers are around $50.
