My question is do most doctors give you a choice between induction & c-section if you have gestational diabetes?

I have heard that c-section is actually safer d/t the complications that can happen with "au naturelle" (as natural as induction can get...NOT)

I'm now 37 1/2 weeks pregnant with G.D. and have yet to see the specialist (on Monday)...so I kind of would like to be prepared.

Also, can one DEMAND a c-section and get what they want? Or will most doctors do what they want to do?

P.S. I am on insulin by the way...just in case that matters.

good morning, ms merlin...my wife was in the same situation that you are in for both our kids. the doctor she saw c-sectioned her because of more than just the diabetes. if you have taken your insulin faithfully, and stayed the course on your diabetic diet and are in otherwise good health, they should let you try natural birth...sometimes they will induce, but a c-section for us was because the baby's heart rhythms were too low...that was because of the drug they gave to induce...you should be ok...good luck and enjoy your new little one!

You can't demand a c-section, but there are some doctors who will perform them at request. Others don't agree with this practice and feel that it's safer to at least try to deliver vaginally with an induction.

I don't believe a c-section is considered any safer than a vaginal birth in the case of gestational diabetes. However, G.D. can cause the baby to be larger than average, and that alone can sometimes necessitate a c-section.

If you are induced, there are increased odds that you will end up with a c-section because your body may not be ready to deliver at the time of the induction, and also because some babies are not able to tolerate the pitocin.

From personal experience, I'd suggest you avoid a c-section unless it's medically necessary. I had one 10 weeks ago and it was a very painful recovery, complicated by the fact that my incision became infected. In order to heal the infection, I had to take an antibiotic that upset my breastfed child's stomach, and I had to have a nurse come to my home EVERY day to clean and pack the wound for 5 weeks. It wasn't fun.

Good luck to you and congratulations on your impending arrival!

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

High blood levels of glucose can cause several problems, including frequent urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and blurry vision. However, because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar experience no symptoms at all. How to treat diabetes naturally https://tr.im/Zwn0E

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes:

Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting

Patients with type 1 diabetes usually develop symptoms over a short period of time, and the condition is often diagnosed in an emergency setting.

If you think you have diabetes i think you should have a checkup and speak with your doctor just in case.

I don't know the specifics of your diabetes, but talk to your doctor. For me, I'd NEVER let them cut me open if I could safely push my child out myself! Its also a longer recovery time if you get a C section. So get all the facts before you decide.

You can't demand a c-section. You can deliver naturally with an induction

I believe by law they have to offer you the choice. If you really want a C-section, all you have to do is ask.

They can use GD as a medical reason for the C-section.

If you can have the baby natural then do that. Don't get a C-Section unless you absoulutly have to. I had a C-Section a year and a half ago and I am still recovering.
