Essentially the Hezbollah started this war. Their ultimate goal is to drive the Jews into the sea. That's what Hamas wants as well. They, the Hezbollah don't want to seek out a peaceful coexistence with Israel. There's a much bigger picture here. The two Israeli soldiers being taken captive was just the icing on a much bigger cake. The cake being the annihilation of Hezbollah and a wake up call for Lebanon for backing Hezbollah.
