Well what I would do is talk to him in private first of all. Then I would tell him that I liked him. If he says that he likes you too then he might ask you out or you guys will at least be in a better stage of your relationship.

Be yourself, Be confident, and don't worry whether you will feel embarassed...
Just get it over with, if he says yes you will be so relieved you'll wonder why you even worried
But...if he says no you may be a little upset but just realize, guys go through that ALL the time, and there are so many other guys who will come in and out of your life...

Well'I can say don't write him a note,TRUST ME! Just get to know him,and someday say something like"Do you want to do something sometime".That's definatly the way to go.
