Other than the nicotine.
I smoke because I enjoy it.
I like the taste and smell.
I also love the feeling of the smoke in my lungs.
How bout you?

Please no one tell me smoking is bad. I know. I do it anyway. I like smoking.

I get stressed easily. Tried chewing gum, that didn't help. Tried going for walks, that didn't help. Many other things didn't help til I picked up a smoke.

Used to smoke because I wanted to fit in. Taught myself to like it in order to look and feel cool. Smoked for years until I realized that I wanted to quit. For you smokers, no one can tell you you need to quit. That will be something that you will come to grips with (if at all) when you want to.
I've never shunned anyone that smoked after I quit ( went cold turkey 5 years ago) but I cannot be aound anyone that does. I'll just excuse myself until they've finished because I still remember the feeling of a early morning or 3am drag. Still have cravings every now and then , but they pass because I remind myself that I do not smoke.
By the way, there is a Smoker's Rights group out there, I used to be a member. They'll send you free samples at times. Try to google it if you want. . . so I say smokers enjoy! It's your right
(only if you're of legal age ! Anyone under the legal age SHOULD NOT SMOKE ! You didn't earn the right to do so.)

Former smoker, here.
Gave it up more than 23 years ago because I wanted to run (which I did...numerous 5, 10 & 15K's, three marathons and three triathalons).

But I miss it!
Loved the feeling of smoke in the lungs.

Now, let me be perfectly frank - I did not care for the wimpy American tobacco.
Late in high school, a friend turned me on to Drum (this was waaaay back in the '70's).
One had to hand-roll their own smokes and I had a lot of fun doing this...plus it made me cut back on smoking since it wasn't so easy to pull a prerolled cig out of a pack.

Drum had a good flavor, smelled good and burned well.
Plus, the shag cut made it very easy to roll.

Rolling experience came in handy during college - I'd do a 50-50% mix with, well, you can guess which illegal herb I blended it with!
No one was the wiser!

Anyway - fun while it lasted.
For health reasons, glad I quit.
Can't believe how damn expensive tobacco is nowadays!

I use to smoke purely to be part of the crowd. I never enjoyed it physically, the taste and smell made me sick, and my throat was always sore, and it made me feel kind of nauseous. But I smoked for a year and a half, before I decided to do what made me happy, and not just do it to follow the crowd. Isn't that sad, that I did something for so long, just to make other people happy? I have grown up a lot since then!

I would love to know the answer too. I would like to know why my father chose to smoke, and why he didn't choose to live so he could be here with me today. I can't wait to hear the answers of smokers, what is so great about smoking? I wish he made different choices, he was only 56 when he died of lung cancer and I really miss him a lot.

There really is only one reason why I do continue to smoke. It's cuz I enjoy it and is one of the few simple pleasures left. Yip, I know all about the negative sides of smoking. If I had kids in the house, I would have to make some changes but... I don't.

I have participated in this lifestyle for over 30 yrs......I too, know it is bad, but is it worst than the polluted air we all breath?? If I had to give a quick answer I would say I still smoke because I like it and I am weak, whereas the addiction after 30 yrs is strong.

It keeps me calm. I know people say that is false but they have never ran into a smoker that just quit smoking and wants that cigarette even though they know they need or have to quit. I have been trying to quit for the last ten years because I hate everything else about it.

I use to smoke.
Quit in 1998
Now I can't stand the smell. I re painted the entire house, got new curtains, new beds & bedding, pulled up carpets. I went to the extreme. All that then we moved.
People don't realize how bad they smell until after they've been away from the smoke for a while & your senses have a chance to heal.

Because it reduces the stress levels in my life,, at least for a little while. Also I am addicted to them. Some people are addicted to T.V., me , cigs. I enjoy them, and have had cancer twice so I shouldn't be smoking, but what the heck,, my world could end tomorrow and it wouldn't make a difference. I also get a kick out of the people who turn their noses up at it,, they have bad habits too,, they might not be visable to us, but they are there!

I like smoking drunk. I like smoking high. I smoke hooka. I love the light-headed feeling i get when i smoke cigarettes fast. I still tell myself im not addict but i wont really know until i stop. Ill get mini-cravings here and there, but i usually quell them by keeping busy and trying not to think about it.
