have them make huge hits on each other like in the pros, make them knock each other over and cry

Other than the usual, running, learning football type plays and such, we found that little kids had to learn two important things on the field.

A) to go for the flag and not actually tackle anyone.

B) once you tore off their flag, you throw it down where you pulled it off.

To this end we created a set of fun exercises where we paired up the players and had them run around doing "Flagging". They would take turns pulling off the flag and throwing it right down. (You can also assign a third person to watch the two and see how well they did it, but as long as they pulled the flag and threw it down, we thought that alone was good enough.)

They did these at the beginning AND at the end of every practice session. We tend to think it helped.

1.Set up cones and let them run in and out of them.
2. Make sure they know which way to run the ball
3. Whatever you do just make sure it's easy
4. At this age the number 1 rule is to HAVE FUN.
