My number 1 reason for avoiding those foods is that HUGE pet food recall that happened in the past couple of years! Just about every single brand of pet food was recalled - except for the more expensive grain free and a few of the whole grain brands. That right there is a damned good reason to avoid the crap you call food! (JMO) Dogs cannot and do not digest corn ... corn is used as a filler in dog kibble. So basically you are spending your money on food that will literally go in one end and come right out the other on your dog. What nutrition is your dog getting there?? Not only is corn unable to be digested, and a possible allergy causer, it can also carry bacteria that can and does kill dogs ... not too long before that major food recall a couple years ago, Diamond & Kirkland brand dog foods had a recall because their contaminated corn was killing dogs. And all they needed was 1 kibble in an entire bag to cause enough liver damage to kill the dog. (there were tests run) And for the record ... most of the dogs that did end up getting severely ill and dying from that food, all started with the same symptoms you described. Just for that reason alone, I'd avoid the food you're using. Personally, I use grain free/whole grain kibble ... I have a dog with skin problems due to food allergies, so all my dogs are fed better quality food because of it. We also use raw for our dogs as it's best ... far better than any kibble available. Innova-EVO is the closest kibble you'll find to a raw diet. My dogs have been to the vet and he's commented on just how healthy they are, how great their skin and coat is, and their teeth ... and all my dogs are rescues who weren't always on the high protein diet they require for their breed. So for them to go from looking "OK" to looking and being completely healthy, that tells me that the cheap food they were fed before coming to me was crap and the high quality food I give them now isn't. And Hill's Science Diet isn't available in grocery stores ... pet stores and vets only. It's a specialty food ... a crappy one, but a specialty one none the less.
