The animal in Maine is...or rather, was, a dog. A mixed breed with strong indications of Chow in its ancestory.
Texas chupacabras have turned out to be canines, too. Coyotes with chronic mange.
Hate to burst your bubble. It would be really neat if one of these mystery creatures really did turn out to be an new unknown species.

Haha, as a resident of Maine I picked the paper up yesterday and saw this...As big a stir as it's causing I was surprised the Wardens DID NOT want to pick it up and have it studied. According to what I read the cryptozoologist picked up a paw and a few other remains he could possibly get DNA from. These tests could be interesting
I personally am with the theory that it was simply a wolf-dog mix...Although the cyrptozoologist said he believed a feral chow, but I'm not sure how accurate he is with that.
But no, I don't think we have a Chupacabra on our hands, just something that we have no good odds in possibly seeing again (at least in the next generation or so.)
EDIT: Found the link

I think it looked like a dog or wolf too. As for the Chupacabra in particular? That's really hard to even speculate about. It may be a previously undiscovered species, or with all the contaminates that are in the ecosystem, it quite possibly be a mutated form of amphibian or lizard...or something like that. I've even heard some say it's an alien, and even though I believe in UFOs, I think that theory is a little far fetched. Until one of them can be caught and examined though, I don't think we'll know for sure. And that goes for all of them; Nessie, Bigfoot, The Lizardman, the Jersey Devil, etc.

I beleive there is something to the chupacabra. They have found new animals thur the years. No I don't think the animal in the news was one, looked to K-9. It looked almost like a chow mix. Chupacabra as benn described with repit like skin and verry large eyes. I knew a guy that said he saw one.

Don't most Chupacabra sightings occur south of the border, in Mexico and such? Not saying that it couldn't necessarily be one, but isn't it a little far north if it's in Maine? Maybe some other undiscovered species?

Yes, I definitely believe in the chupacabra. The site www.ufos-aliens.co.uk may look silly, but the chupacabra info on there is for real. As for the animal discovered, it may be a chupacabra, but notice that there is no evidence that it sucks blood. The name chupacabra literally means goat-sucker.

I think its possible, it may not be an old species, all the pollution and crap we have been putting into the earth may have created a relatively new species, or at the very least altered already existing ones. If they can catch a fish that was supposed to be hundreds of thousands of years extinct then I wouldn't rule out the possibility of this creatures existence..if you remember people didn't believe in the duckbill platypus at its first discovery either

I'm sorry I don't I believe in a lot of crypto-creature but not this one. Chupacabra is mostly a southern american thing and I hate to say but alot of those people live in 3rd world conditions and are very very very superstious
Also I saw those pictures, that is some kind of wolf/dog maybe coyote hybrid. Ugly but not uncommon

I believe in them. Why is it so hard to beleive (for some people) that our stupid government hasn't discovered all of the species of animals yet, for all we know, new species are evolving from the ones we already had. I couldn't find the picture or whatever on MSNBC website though.
