The free trial of my McAfee Security Center has just run out. I've been quite happy with its performance so far, but was looking to buy a new one-year subscription from Amazon and the reviews were atrocious! I don't mind buying some security software, but what's the best to get? Thanks.

If you have Windows XP, just get a copy of Norton Antivirus 2006. Windows XP has a firewall that gets the job done, and with the help of free software programs such as AdAware SE and Spybot Search and destroy, Norton can easily keep your computer safe from virus threats. McAfee is a pretty crappy program.

stupid theory. Why damage your gadget for somebody else's attempt to. the possibilities of all and sundry hacking your gadget are minimum. they could ought to get previous your router firewall, then by ability of the computing device firewall. after that could want to need to locate an open port with some type of distant login accessible. So do not turn on distant get admission to, do not mess with firewall settings, and be very careful about starting hyperlinks from people on social networks and in emails. in reality a scripted hyperlink is the purely danger. or maybe then in case you shop a completely as a lot as date energetic anti-secret agent ware/virus it truly is not likely to provide all and sundry get admission to. Your greatest danger is secret agent ware from careless surfing or unlawful downloads.

You don't have to pay a fortune to keep your comp safe and secure. Here's some suggestions:
Anti-virus: AVG 7.1 Free Version - this is great and very reliable - I've used it for years with no complaints. Available from http://www.grisoft.com
Anti-virus: BitDefender 8 Free Version - will run side-by-side with AVG 7.1. Available from http://www.bitdefender.com
Anti-spyware: Ad-aware. Available from www.lavasoft.com
History Cleaner: HDCleaner. Available from http://home.tiscali.de/zdata/mainpage.htm

Good Luck!!

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

I'm using NOD32. I think that it's fastest on scanning works. It using very low memory to standby on my computer.

I think that it's fast and stable.

My private thinking is I don't like both of McAfee, Norton or whatever that using too high memory and processing to standby on my computer.
