I believe so. For example, there are several people whom I can't stand. I hate them.
Then, there is a woman I hate with such a passion, that I would actually enjoy hearing news of her dying in a bloody car crash.
If the EMTs had to feel her face and chunks of scalp and hair from the windshield, I'd actually laugh. That's how much I hate her.

The levels of hate are called different things. Like: I can't stand that person (mid-level), I'm not too crazy about that person (low-level), Grrr I just want to rip his throat out (high level) Top level hate of course is extreme violence.
The word hate in general is used too casually and therefore has a high degree of ambiguity. People use the word hate when in fact they don't really mean it.

Of course their is. A person could say I hate seafood and they could also say I hate the person who killed my dog. Those would obviously be on two completely different levels.

Yep, there's the level where you're all "hate" but not worth another thought, and then there's that level where you have to go get the matches and the gasoline and the surgical gloves and black ninja outfit.
Why, did something burn last night? Wasn't me!

I personally think there are, but I doubt that there are 'defined' levels of hate.

sure I think you can just generally dislike something
then you can really hate something
then i think you can go off the deep end and get into an all consuming fanatical type of hate.
Just like there are different types of love.
great question :)

Hello,
yes. And how much levels are, that differs from person to person. That is, because every person have different experiences and lives in different environments.

I hate brain sandwich's ( never actually tried one )
I hate people who are mean and commit crimes against people.
But I hate these two on very different levels.
