I would suggest you speak with a Catholic priest or other religious person familiar with this kind of religious life. I understand it is a life many are unwilling to undertake... it requires great sacrifices, poverty, total discipline to authority, prolonged periods (even years) of silence, prayer, and hard physical labor. I know some who have considered this life... and even tried it for a few months... it is not something to be taken lightly and requires a firm commitment. Good luck should you decide to become a monk, and how about praying for Mike S when you can? Thanks!

* contact your local barber for a presentable passport size photo for monk-hood. Baldness is preferred, although your Asian barber would recommend a semi-bald ponytail-cut.
* Purchase a decent hooded robe for the photo.
* you would have to apply for a mock Monk License.
* then if all your papers i.e. criminal record, sexual orientation proof certificate, barber's criminal record, PDN (Parents' Dissent Note), you are granted a temporary license.
* subsequent to the minimum of one year in spiritual exile, you shall be granted the complete license. They require unbeareable body stench due to lack of sanitation; at least 6 inches of facial beard and malnourished, skinniness of body as proof of said exile.
Or of course, if you find that the whole proceedure is fraught with bureaucratic complications and red tapism, you could just marry a Mr. Monk.

Devote yourself completely to spiritual realization. There are monasteries of many sects, but you could do it alone even if you still live in the city. Its not as easy that way. But its possible. Its more about developing spiritual consciousness than changing your living arrangement. Changing your lifestyle might help, but thats not the real point. To start on the journey of spiritual realization I would suggest a thorough study of the Bhagavad-gita. An online version is available here: http://www.krishna.com/e-books/
Good luck on your journey!
