I once kept a praying mantis. but it needed to blend and hunt outside for insects. it was so beautiful too! i would suggest leaving them outside. but you can create a nice welcoming habitat for them in your yard (if you have one). this way you can enjoy them and they can be where they need to be.

Yes, I had a praying mantis for the summer, let her go in the fall to breed. I had a really nice vivarium for her. I was about 9 years old, I also had a dozen or so pet slugs, had some of them for years, one I called Big Daddy was over 9 inches long! I thought they were cool, I fed them rotten veggies. Finally my dad agreed to get me a snake if I let the slugs go. I'm also a woman, so I guess I was kind of strange when I was a kid.

its not suggested to do.. its a bug..wont live long might break your heart. My friend eric has a bunch of praying mantis in his dorm.. he just leaves the window open and fills his room with the bugs praying mantis eat and they just kind of stick around... you could try that or do the aquarium thing. dont think they would last to long not to many people know how to maintain them unless they're using them for bait.
