I have read in books, and heard people talking. Some think they are in some way superior to Mexican people, do you feel that way? Have you seen it? Why?

I also saw a tv show about a white woman that had 2 sons with a Mexican illegal immigrant, he left, and when they grew up, she told them that their Dad was from Chile. Doesnt that seem odd? Like they should be more proud of a chilean than a Mexican.

Yes, sadly I have seen it.....I remember when I was younger and was dating this girl with racist parents......well when the time came for me to meet them, she had told them that I was Portorican O_o. I am proud to be of Mexican descent, and would never deny it.

There is a big hierarchy in Latin American circles. Depending on what country a Latin American person is from will often determine whom they consider to be "beneath" them. At the bottom of the list, most often, I have found are Mexicans and Columbians. The reason for Mexicans being at the bottom is the large number of illegal Mexicans in the US. The reason for Columbians being down on the list is the large amount of illegal drug traffic the media says goes on in Columbia.

At the top you will usually find Cubans, Argentinians, and Puerto Ricans. Cubans, because the wealthy, the upper middle class and middle class left the island first due to Castro. They had educations, a lot of them brought wealth or started wealth in the US, and they never left Cuba for economic opportunity, only for political reasons. Hence, they were the upper crust in their country and feel that others with less education/wealth/class would never have been allowed to associate with them back in the day.

Puerto Ricans - because they are a large part of a growing minority, English/Spanish is taught to them in Puerto Rico, they are very American, which other Latin Americans often are not.

Argentinians - maybe they hung out too much with the Nazi's after WWII - I don't know.

I worked for home health doing the Latino population in New Orleans and the ones that I found the most stuck up were the cubans. The hondurans not to bad about looking down at this Mexican. What made the Cubans think they were better. I do not know. But they were all poor. The Cubans would rather have cuban nurses which there were none working in Home health. I look down on no one and no one ever guesses my racial extraction except I am fluent in two languages.

I can't, since I'm 1/4 Mexican . But I have, however seen the hate. My own aunts are constantly ranting about how ugly Mexican women are, which is so messed up. FYI : Argentinos are kind of conceited because most of them are of European descent, not because they hung out with Nazis. Klaus Barbi and Dr. Mengele escaped and were spotted in Bolivia, Argentina, and Uruguay.

Only the short ones.

A lot of other "Latinos" do seem to have some sort of pride which sometimes expresses itself against what they call "Hard Hairs" or "Los indios" people with strong Indian blood, or ***** blood. Argentines are particularly arrogant in this area.

It's racism pure and simple.

False pride is not a characteristic of Latino peoples. But human
nature in general. We all get put down, and complained about. Which gives us bad feelings about ourselves. And causes us
to put others down, and try to act big.

I know what you're talking about.I see alot of that but I don't feel I'm superior to anyone.I don't think we should look down on each other. We should stick together and help one another.Too bad everyone doesn't think that way.

I'm not Latina, but I've seen that kind of discrimination. I don't know why.

I think people are people so it shouldn't be based on where a person comes from.
