So blood pressure can cause symptoms when it is low? i thought it was silent in symptoms. it was suggested to me in a post i put on here that my spells i have ever so often, might be bp related. becuz i get a weird feeling in my head, feel spacey with a sense of having been there done this before kinda thing, i think the same thing, each time before i get lightheaded and almost but not quite pass out. then i'm back. it's like right now i couldn't tell you what it is i think about when it begins, but when i do it i go, oh there's that thought again, or i hear a song in my head, same thing each time. done it for years.... would blood pressure would drop like that for only a minute with never having to have help getting it back up? seems strange .. best explanation i found for myself on the net was aura's or tiny seizures, but the dr's say these are not. possibly anxiety related. but for only 30 seconds to a minute? that doesn't make sense either.. anyone??

When you mention "silent in symptoms", you are referring to hypertension (high blood pressure) which can be silent but isn't always. It, too, can have its symptoms.

What you have are hypotensive episodes. And, yes, they usually resolve themselves. And, again yes, hypotension can cause dizziness, light-headedness and even syncope (fainting). Sometimes these are due to cardiac issues. Auras and seizures are unlikely as a direct cause.

Do you worry a lot? Do you feel pressured or stressed? Do you believe you have many health problems? You may have an anxiety disorder after all. 30 seconds to a minute DOES make sense. First get a complete physical to rule out organic causes. If you get a clean bill of health, seek out a psychologist to assist you.

In the meantime, change position slowly. When getting out of bed, sit up slowly and remain sitting on the edge of the bed until you feel steady. Stand slowly from a sitting position.

I hope you are able to resolve this in the near future and do try not to worry. (I know this is easier said than done)

When a blood pressure is low it can cause symptoms. Because you blood pressure is low, it means that the pressure of blood in your arteries is not as strong as it should be. It means that your vital organs are not getting sufficient oxygen. When your brain does not have enough oxygen you get the feeling of dizziness or being lightheaded. When you go from a lying or sitting postion to standing quickly and these feelings occur you may have something called orthostatic hypotension. Basically when you stand your blood pressure drops quickly. Low Blood pressures can be caused by dehydration, some medications, moderate or severe bleeding just to name a few. Treatment will depend on what is causing the low blood pressure. Some people are able to function with very low blood pressures, it is very individual.

I have low BP and low Blood sugar. I would go to the drs. and request they give you a fasting blood test. You won't be able to eat from a certain time the night before, then you go in to drs or hosp. and they give you something to drink (mine was like orange crush but really really sweet) then you have your blood taken and are there for about 4 hours and over that time you have blood draws to keep checking your sugar levals. BP & low blood sugar can show with the same symtoms.

I had low blood pressure when I was pregnant with my daughter and it caused the symptoms you spoke of. As long as your doctor is monitoring you and you are taking steps to fix the problem, then thats all you can do. good luck.

If the doctor you went to couldn't provide you with an explantion or a treatment, I would advise you to go see another doctor, even if only to get a second opinion. Better safe than sorry.
