Does anyone know what are the guidelies used to determine if you are of Royal family and is it possible to acquire them somewhere??

The majority of the royal throughout Europe share a very rare type of mytochondrial dna. Different from other dna - it is inherited entirely from your mother.
Prince Phillip's dna has been made a matter of public record so you could get a comparison done.
Your best bet - of course is your family tree. That is, unless you were descended from an illegitimate line.

you need to do a family tree first and if there is a relative in that house that is still ruling you can ask if can do a dna test but it will quite expensive--They did that for the women thought to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. The closest living relative was Prince Philip of England and they did a dna comparasion (I think the results were not right though) That woman knew things only the Grand Duchess could know.

the only way to prove whether your royalty would be first to determine which country your from and then to get a dna test.but you also have to research everyone in the royal court, so once oyu find out who your related to like a past king or queen then you neeed to go to their country and the people there can probably tell you. like if you were the descendant of queen "bloody" Mary, you would need to go to england to see if you are still considered royalty.

Yes have royal descent. fourth cousin to King Juan Carlos of Spain. My father is a Count.

If I suspected I may be distantly related I would keep very quiet as it would destroy my image. As for what do they actually do I would say very little. They are merely figureheads for the social ambitious to bow down to and it's quite likely that once the generation that fought the war have departed you will see a rise in British republicanism.
