Thanx for all the great & scarey replies. Although I would like to add a bit more detail. Please keep in mind that I am computer illiterate. If a certain person were to attempt this, it would be for the purpose of spying on me as a form of "revenge". My computer holds no financial records, etc. so there would be nothing to gain, other than a sick thrill of knowing what I am doing on the computer. In the past, I had communicated w/ this person on the computer-would that make this scenario easier for the person to gain access? This is a very sick person, who may be intent on conducting any form of "revenge" possible to hurt me. We have no contact, but their threat of seeking revenge is obviously on my mind. So I ask again-with this additional info for you all-Could they be watching me thru my computer? Would I know? I do have firewall protection, but thats all I know. Thank you all very much .....

Make sure your firewall is enabled and that remote access is turned off. As an additional barrier, when you are not using your computer turn your modem off/unplug.
Make sure you haven't OKed this person through your firewall -check the settings.

Down load Ad-aware from Majorgeeks.com or downloads.com. It has a segment that scans for hackers. If you have a firewall and its configured correctley I wouldn't worry.

For someone to be able to spy on your computer like that you would have to download and run a "trojan".

As long as you pay attention and don't open things without first checking what they are, you'll be fine.

Not sure what your question is. Nobody can see you unless you have a cam and leave it on if that's what you're asking. A firewall will protect you, but only if it's properly configured.
