Slavery for black people is different because Jim Crow, segregation stemming from slavery, is just about a generation old.
My father lived during the time of the Jim Crow era. I can look at him and listen to stories from him. Same with Holocaust survivors. They still are alive and people have stories. They are only a few generations away.
Most people dealing with slavery from thousands of years ago can't just go up to a person and hear a story of how they were chased out of a store because of their race. Black people can.
Also, people in the south continue to glorify the confederacy. Slavery is directly connected with that. So black people are supposed to get over slavery, but many people can't get over the confederacy? How strange, I say.

All people have suffered some type of slavery in the past, no doubt. But the thing with my people is we still suffer from the injustice of it today. I'm not one of those people saying the man is holding me back or anything, but not many people who were enslaved. Still deal with the ramifications of it today, excluding the jewish people, because I still think they do to. But it easy to say get over it when you have never suffered those type of injustice which you can trace. it's not easy to get over when you search your family line and hit a dead end because members of your family were sold and names changed with each owner. It's not easy to except that you may never no where your family originated from no matter how hard you try. Even now there are still laws that say african americans are not full citizens and this law needs to be renewed every few years but still has not been made solid. Our country still does not respect us as people. We saw that from hurricane Katrina. because the majority of the poor black areas were not helped for days and the white areas got help faster. Also that our country can send aid for zsunami victims in another country within 24 hours for poitical brownie points but can't help your own people here because they are citizens of YOUR country. It's easy to cast stones, but it hard to use those stones to build a bridge between the races.

in spite of what some human beings decide to have confidence, being gay isn't a call. it is not extra a call than your eye colour. it is purely extra complicated to parent any actual indications linked with it. human beings show you how to comprehend it relatively is a call as a results of fact they do in an attempt to augment their concept device. people who sense being gay or straight away is a call are many times inspired with the aid of a non secular doctrine. (purely like sin and repentance is a call, etc). to entice a assessment between slavery and gay marriage is a splash extreme.* yet, I see your component. A extra advantageous assessment would be to keep in mind the days of whilst marriage between human beings of diverse races became into forbidden with the aid of regulation. Or, whilst black human beings have been no longer able to legally vote. Or, whilst segregation became into accepted. If any of those forward, ingenious variations have been positioned to a properly-liked vote in those days, i'm undecided which, if any of them, would have long previous with the aid of. thankfully, they have and, all of us earnings from those variations. regrettably, the term "marriage" has gotten all of us disillusioned. The term "marriage" consists of very lots of cultural and non secular magnitude and so, forces human beings to renowned different "marriages" in the context of their own faith or way of life. Does the Catholic Church comprehend a married couple who have been married in a Hindu ceremony? would a Baptist Church comprehend a marriage complete with the aid of a Justice of the Peace? would your church comprehend a marriage from yet another us of a? the component is, notwithstanding if your faith chooses to renowned a marriage from yet another faith or no longer does not remember. those all and sundry continues to be married with the aid of regulation. Likewise with gay marriage. Your church does not would desire to settle for the marriage. yet, the guidelines of the land shouldn't ward off it. Doing so is going against the form. And, the Rights defined in the form would desire to on no account be examined with the aid of a properly-liked vote.

true, to an extent. it's sad when some in the black community use slavery as an excuse not to succeed or to even try to better their current living situation. it's like they use the slavery card as an excuse to under achieve. many, many other races have suffered as much because of slavery, but have risen above it and better themselves. in short, I fully agree with you, stop making excuses that were in the past and better yourselves for the community and your families.
