Pick a date and we all stay home, don't drive anywhere, and see if that gets the attention of those damn oil companies to lower their prices!!!! I think they (major fuel co.s) are the only ones without pricing regulations. Ma bell & Mr electric have to fill out lenghty request forms to raise prices and show losing money first.

better than that all decide to ride a bicycle to work where possible, all on the same date, total gridlock the ones who decide to drive do so at half the normal speed or do not exceed any limits set it would have the same effect especially if we managed a full seven days of it, just imagine thousands of bikes clogging every major road, sksteboarders welcome along with horse riders, pogosticks
roller skates, the goverment might take notice and cut the tax on fuel

I would love to do this... but I agree that the American public won't be up for it... unfortunately. I live in Puerto Rico and our Public Transportation System is not really that good, so if we want to get to work we have to pump gas to our cars... and since our roads are so @#$%@#$, many of us use SUVs... so more $ for gas! It's a vicious cycle... I'm researching on the hybrids so when it's time to get a new car, this might be my option. It would be wonderful if an idea like yours could get from idea to reality, but unfortunately, lots of people wouldn't support it and then it wouldn't have a real impact in order to get the attention needed.

Sorry to be a bit pessimistic about it... but maybe you and I could give it a try!? hehehe :-)

Warm wishes from Puerto Rico,
y.

I have gone as long as three days without driving my car. I believe that going one day without driving could be done but it would be best if it were a weekday because why allow some people to cheat and not others? If we imagine business owners to be the exception, what point do we prove?

I like the idea, but it will never happen. People have to go to work and in most places, you can't get there without driving.

I know exactly what you're talking about. If we all did that just for one day...one day, they would lose millions. For making a couple billion dollars in a quarter, I think millions would still hurt them a little.

I think that is a great idea. Too bad the American public won't go for it. Great thinking!!
