okay, here we go. my gym has tanning bed ($2 for gym members, the cheapest I've ever had). I did use tanning bed before, back in 2002, but didn't use them ever since.
1) do I need a sunscreen? if yes, what spf is optimal? (my skin is beige)
2) how long do I need to stay in tanning bed and how many times a week/month? the goal is to have a nice tan like I just came back form my Hawaii vacation.
3) what can I use after the exposion? lotion, gel, whatever else...
4) how do I lay in that bed in order not to burn my most important parts of body? do I close myself there completely or keep it a little bit open, turning every now and then?

thanks to everyone paying attention to my question.

1. no, you don't need sunscreen. You can use a tanning lotion made specifically for the tanning bed. They sell some at Wal-mart or if you go to a tanning salon they sell them too (they get expensive and they are not necessary, as long as your skin is not dry when u use the tanning bed u should be fine)
2. stay in 15-20 minutes try to only go 2/3 times a week too much can lead to skin damage
3. Use a good moisturizer after wards. I like Bath & Body works True Blue® Spa Tahiti, Sweetie™ Body Lotion with Monoi Oil
4. Do not turn in the tanning bed. You can break the shield that seperates u from the bulbs. Keep the lid closed. If you start to feel like u are getting burned get out or i always keep a small hand towel within reach to coverup whatever parts (usually my chest) feel like they have had enough tanning.

Good luck with your tan!

Tanning beds increase the risk of malinoma (skin cancer), and should be avoided. It is a dangerous fad, you're fine the way you are. Maybe nextime you'll be reborn as an Indian, African or Mexican, etc.

specific. face up to the urge to tan longer than what they propose. in case you do it slowly, you are able to hold jointly some colour before your experience, yet once you attempt to do too many minutes too immediately, you will fry then peel. it is from own experience. lol :)

A good gym would give you all of this information in a handout. Don't use it.
